Laser Assisted Spider Vein Treatment
Spider veins are thin, delicate reddish or purple blood vessels that sit close to the skin’s surface and generally appear in clusters on the legs and face. Spider veins are not the same as varicose veins but like varicose veins, they may be the result of venous reflux disease even if a varicose vein is not yet present. However, it is possible to have spider veins without having greater saphenous disease. Dr. Rosenfield may recommend an ultrasound if he suspects a feeder vein deeper in the skin is the root cause of the problem.

Laser assisted spider vein treatment is a state-of-the-art technology that eliminates the appearance of surface spider veins on the legs and face. A pinpoint laser light is passed through the skin and selectively targets the underlying vein with minimal discomfort. It offers beautiful results that are often immediate with no downtime. The video below demonstrates the power of the unique laser assisted spider vein therapy used at our Vein Clinic.

Sclerotherapy
In addition to laser treatment, sclerotherapy is often used to treat spider veins. A chemical solution (sclerosing agent) is injected with a very fine needle directly into the veins. The solution creates an irritation which causes the vein to close. Over time, the vein is absorbed by the body. Sclerotherapy is a process frequently requiring multiple injections.

At The Vein Clinic, we often combine laser and sclerotherapy treatment in a technique known as the double-injury method. This technique yields more complete resolution of spider veins and a rapid, beautiful result.
