Ambulatory Phlebectomy of Varicose Veins
Phlebectomy is a minimally-invasive surgical procedure that removes large, surface varicose veins. It is performed on an outpatient basis. The area to be treated is injected with a local anesthetic. Dr. Rosenfield then makes micro-incisions or needle punctures in the skin as small as 1mm next to the varicose vein. A tiny phlebectomy hook is used to extract the diseased veins. Generally, no stitches are required. The area is covered with a compression bandage for 24 hours followed by medical grade compression hose for another week.

Ambulatory phlebectomy is often performed following endovenous laser ablation to remove any large surface veins left behind by the procedures. The results are beautiful. There is no scarring, minimal discomfort and no downtime.
