When selecting a surgeon for nose surgery (Rhinoplasty), we recommend a careful study of before and after photos. Most patients seek a softened natural look. All noses should definitely not look the same. The best result is balanced with one’s overall appearance.
The days of “turned up” or “bobbed noses” are long gone. Modern surgery concentrates on softening the aspects of the nose each patient finds troublesome. A typical example is a women with a harsh, masculine nose that is out of balance with her more delicate, feminine features. In this example, the surgical goal is not to create a new nose but rather to take emphasis away from the nose and let the eyes be the first thing people notice.
Rhinoplasty is a very common procedure in young as well as older patients. Teenagers in particular see a rapid growth of their nose at the time of puberty, which can be bothersome. Rhinoplasty can allow for dramatic improvements in self confidence during such a sensitive time of development.
A new era in Rhinoplasty
Postsurgical noses often appear to have a pinched, ski jump appearance. This results from surgical technique. The nose was shaped by taking away large sections of cartilage and bone. The predictable result is an unnaturally pinched nose or turned up tip. The modern approach used at Pearl Women’s Center creates a natural shape in the nose by using existing cartilage. By reshaping the cartilage with precise sutures, a more natural and sophisticated look is achieved. The result is a nose that is individualized to you and in balance with your overall appearance.
More comfortable techniques
Rhinoplasty has a reputation for being painful. Painful rhinoplasty is not the result of the surgery but rather caused by the practice of placing packing inside the nose. This practice is unnecessary and not required at Pearl Women’s Center. Rhinoplasty is less painful when packing is avoided. We also use special techniques to minimize bruising resulting in a faster recovery. The use of natural products (Arnica Montana and Bromelain) also help shorten the duration of post-operative bruising and swelling.
